WordPress Mobile Plugins

December 3, 2008 by Andy Brudtkuhl · Leave a Comment

There are a couple options for providing mobile views of your WordPress blog. I would highly recommend that you implement one of these two for mobile browsers of your website. This is a growing segment of readership that you do not want to leave behind - especially when it is super easy to adapt your WordPress site for them.

WP-Touch
We just implemented WP-Touch here at GANB and are loving it. It was extremely simple to install, configure, and customize and makes the blog look fantastic on an iPhone or iPod Touch. This is a highly recommended WordPress Mobile Plugin.

WPtouch automatically transforms your WordPress blog into an iPhone application-like experience when viewed from an iPhone or iPod touch. It comes Complete with ajax loading articles and effects, search, login, categories, tags, archives, photos & more, and allows for near-complete customization through your WordPress admin.

MobilePress
MobilePress is a great alternative or complement to WP-Touch as it offers the ability to render on all the most popular mobile platforms. We have not tried this one out yet but it’s on our implementation list.

MobilePress is a WordPress plugin that will render your WordPress blog on mobile handsets, with the ability to use customized themes. The plugin also allows specific themes for specific devices / mobile browsers, such as iPhone, Opera Mini, Windows CE Mobile and other generic handset browsers.

WordPress Glossary Plugin

What I thought would be a quick and easy search for a WordPress Glossary Plugin turned out to be hours of research and work. If you want to implement a WordPress Glossary, let me save you hours of searching…

Step 1: Download WP-SNAP
*note*: I tried IMM-Glossary and couldn’t get it to work at all

Step 2: Read these instructions

If you have any questions about this process, feel free to leave a comment here or ask me.

More posts coming on all the killer WordPress, Firefox, etc plugins I use daily in this tools category. Subscribe to just the “tools” feed here.
