Twitter Client – Gmail Twitter Gadget

by Andy Brudtkuhl on April 1, 2009

I am a Gmail addict power user so naturally I was intrigued when I found out someone had built a Gmail gadget for Twitter… So you can access your Twitter account directly in Gmail!

Here’s a walkthrough for setting it up. First, you must enable gadgets in Gmail

First, add the gadget…

Secondly confirm access to your Twitter account…

Third – Receive confirmation and close the tab

Last – Click “Twitter” on your Gmail gadget to load your Twitter stream!

And poof! Your Twitter stream has been integrated with your inbox!

By the way – are you following me on Twitter?

Woah, this is substantially different than the Twitter Gadget I wrote about in the past, this one actually looks usable! Great to see the OAuth workflow in there too, I’m really happy with the way that turned out.

Hah I know! Making Twitter that much more accessible and easy to use is definitely hurting productivity.. Oh well – I think there are residual benefits..

The “Twitter” portion of the highlight on the left isn’t clickable for me. I thought it was my theme, but I changed themes and still nothing happens. Bummer.

Tried both Firefox 3.0.8 and 3.6a1pre

I’m having the same problem now too – as of late last week. I’ll see if I can find out why!
