How To Build A Podcast Website

by Andy Brudtkuhl on February 14, 2009

In this screencast we talk about the basic steps we took to build our internet business podcast website in a very short time using WordPress, podPress, Revolution WordPress Theme, and Amazon CloudFront.

What do you think about the website? What do you like? What could use improvement? Are there any additional WordPress plugins you would recommend? Let us know in the comments.

Thanks for sharing how you developed your site for your podcast.

I know many people have had a problem with Podpress – an alternative I suggest is Blubrry – you can just publish with them or alternatively you can host your podcast with them. You can also syndicate your feed via their site if you do not want to use their podcast publisher software – it’s a strong podcast community.

I would also and do use blubrry in this case. Podpress is strong but I like the features that blubrry gives me for setting up the podcast and direct feed listening at the site. I also do not really care if people listen to it via itunes, zune marketplace, my website or places like podcast alley. Awesome tut though.

@cecil thanks for the comments. you may try adjusting the volume in the flash player? There are several things I also noticed in post production.. the videos should get better as I learn to use the tools better

@Krishna, @Braden – I have heard great things about Blubrry and will probably give it a try – thanks for letting me know about it

Well, there seem to be a few all-in-one podcast hosts still standing. I haven't used these sites, I was always more interested in building a podcasting site than actually doing podcasting myself (perhaps that was one of the challenges we faced?).

This is great work. Very impressive, indeed. I myself am involved in developing a couple of measurement concepts and should use your work as a reference, I shall certainly cite you. Have you made any updates to these? Also, is there a way you could either possibly post a video taking us through this line by line? Perhaps even on YouTube? Thanks and great work!
