Twitter Squatting
November 13, 2008 by Andy Brudtkuhl
So Twitter Squatting is getting huge… Is your brand in trouble?
If you are familiar with the web you have probably heard of domain squatting - which is where “squatters” buy domains in hopes of selling them to the respective brand at a later time. This is a HUGE industry.
Well, these squatters are moving to Twitter. As Twitter gains steam it’s becoming a huge marketing medium - and squatters are coming to steal your brand. There are several motives for this… First off there is hopes that if you want it bad enough you will pay for it. The other motive is it gives the ability for a comptetitor or hater to start broadcasting messages as you.
If you are not paying attention this could hurt you very much. If it can happen to Seth Godin, it can happen to you. Even if you aren’t planning on using Twitter - go register your brand so someone else doesn’t.
That’s your lesson for today. Oh, and don’t forget to follow me :)
