I finally got around to downloading and installing Firefox 3 RC1 and it lives up to all the promises. As of last week I got to the point of switching to IE or Safari because Firefox 2 took up way too much memory (as much as Visual Studio) and was constantly crashing.
So, before I gave it all up I decided to give the much anticipated Firefox 3 a shot. It solved all my problems. It hasn’t crashed since and it is sooo much faster. The only problem is a few plugins don’t work but that should be resolved by the time it officially launches.
If you are having the same problems, you can download the latest and greatest version here.

Do you know what the import process is to bring your v2 profile in to v3? In reading the FAQ, it almost seems like it picks up your existing profile on install. Is that your experience?
And welcome back btw :)
Jess –
Thanks for sticking around!
Yea it was 100% seamless. All my bookmarks, settings, etc came through on the upgrade.
As I mentioned there were only a few issues with some plugins (ColorPicker, MeasureIT, and Delicious). I’m not happy that the Delicious plugin has not been updated because I use that daily. But it should get updated soon.
Great – thanks! I’ll give it a whirl today.
I’m still amazed at the performance differences. It’s remarkable.
