In a recent CIB meeting I was asked about a good place to find stock photography for blogging since Rush posted about potential legal issues on this subject.
Well today I stumbled upon PowStock.com, a “Canonical List of Free and Cheap Stock Photos”.
They have an extensive list of websites for free or cheap stock photography. A couple on the list we have blogged about before including StockXchng and YotoPhoto.

1Andy:
I want to make it clear that I am not advocating people shouldn’t use flickr. I use flickr myself. You just need to be careful and smart. You need to think through whether a license is questionable for the photograph. For example, do you think an amateur photographer would have the rights to a network TV show - even if it is placed under the creative commons license? In the case I posted about a picture of a girl was used in an ad campaign along with comments that weren’t flattering. What would have made them think that is okay? The key is: Be smart.

2I always check out Sxc.hu, YotoPhoto, Morgue File as far as free goes. Non Free i always hit Istockphoto.com and then a couple more.

3Great post Andy! You still need to be careful when using photos of people (since it is unlikely the photographer obtained a model release), but those sites look great. Thanks for the heads up.
