Or… how Time Inc. killed one of the only printed publications that still create value (at least to me). Just a month ago in my discussion on how the media has become commoditized I mentioned B20 as one of the only publications that still attract me. I’ve cancelled Business Week, Fast Company (although recently re-subscribed due to the free offer they gave me), etc. I kept B20 around because it’s simply a great magazine.

Rather than sell the magazine to to interested suitors lik Mansueto (they publish Fast Company) Time decided to close the doors.

Business 2.0, a monthly magazine about the new economy, will be shut down rather than sold, its owners at Time Inc. have decided. The publication, which has been suffering from a decline in advertising revenue, will cease publication after its October issue, which will have a cover article on where to invest in a real estate downturn.

You know who is to blame don’t you? The internet. Jarvis says it’s because the magazine was made by a “1.0 company”.
