I compare it in that I spent far less for far more. It's a pretty simple equation.

And yes, I know of parallels and VMWare Fusion. I ask you this - Have you ever ran Visual Studio on a virtual machine? VS is a memory hog and unless you allocate most of your memory to your virtual machine it will be annoyingly sluggish.

Don't get me wrong - Macbook's are sweet. But they aren't for everyone, no matter what Apple or their fanboys say.

I bought a Macbook Pro a little over a year ago and have loved it ever since. It was my first Mac I've ever owned. Being a web designer, many people in my field use them. I like how simiple it is and all the free app resources you get where all the free/shareware for the PC side is bloated and hard to find.

I know at least 5 people who bought a MacBook or MacBook Pro and loves it. None of them had ever used a Mac before. At the end of the day It's just a better OS and notebook. Use it before passing judgement. I'm also not really sure how you can compair MacBook which is a notebook with a badass desktop(?) PC you built. Lastly you can run Visual Studio on the Mac using Parallels. There are people out there who do.

I bought an Apple MacBook as we have a need to test under OS X for the sites we're developing. I started using Windows on it (Vista) but found myself drawn more and more into the Mac OS. Its nice, clean and works well. I don't subscribe to the fan boys who love everything Apple, however this machine works really well and I think they've got the OS really well thought out. I think there's space for both Windows and Apple (oh and Linux, though we'll not go there!!). The reason I think Apple are selling so many laptops is that their marketing is awesome and everyone who buys a machine raves about them - Microsoft is probably just too big for anyone to be that passionate about the company
