Yes, yes… it’s finally here - the brand new Iowa Blogs. The new community website finally went live on Friday, July 27. After three rewrites starting with a Wordpress based system, to a PHP website, to a completely rewritten application built on trusty ASP.Net - it has launched. We are excited to have launched our first website built on a platform I designed allowing us to rapidly develop community based aggregators and websites.
The goal of the new Iowa Blogs is not only to demonstrate our wonderful new platform but to also provide one stop shop for reading the best blogs in Iowa (and yes, there are lots). By filtering through the directory we offer (which is still under development - will be fully functional in 1.1), I pulled out several outstanding blogs and organized them along traditional media standards like a newspaper.
We’re still tweaking away at version 1.0 and are planning out plenty of excellent features all the way up to version 2.0. If you have any ideas or if I missed a few good blogs - let us know at editor[at]iowablogs.net or through the contact form. We’re also looking for advertisers to help cover our hosting costs and to fund further development.
And if you are an Iowa Blogger, don’t forgot to grab a badge…
So get on over there and enjoy some great content.
