Home Automation

by Andy Brudtkuhl on April 19, 2007

I love home automation or creating “smart homes”. It’s my hobby and the days when I don’t work 16 hours I like come home and work on my smart home – from networking, to media streaming throughout the house, to controlling the lights. Really cool stuff.

Check out this interview with John Yoon, VP of Marketing for Control4.

Someday I want to start a company to help people build these systems in their homes.

Home automation is pretty cool. I’ve been slowly working on it myself using mostly open source products. The major hold up right now is a big enough storage solution for all my media.

For light and appliance automation, I went with X10, what do you use? I’ve been getting fed up with X10 and have been looking for a replacement.

For quite some time now, I have been fascinated with the Home Automation Business and am interested in starting one. I am formally educated and experienced in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering and am excited about the idea of starting a Home Automation Company.
