Just two days ago I wrote a post asking ‘What’s Google up to?‘ - listing ten things they have announced over the last couple weeks. Well apparently I should have waited until today.
While glancing at one of my fresh feeds widgets on my google homepage I saw a few additional announcments in the last two days since my post.
The biggest is the first quarter profits announced by Google in which they exceeded Wall Street expectations by 69 percent reporting net income of $1 billion on revenue of $3.66 billion. Yes, those are just the first quarter numbers. gasp.
Oh, and they bought another company yesterday. This time it is Marratech - a Swedish video conferencing company. So you can pretty much expect not only a Skype killer but video integration into (my favorite) Google Talk.
And lastly, another product announcement - Google Web History (used to be called Search History in Labs).
Today, we’re pleased to announce the launch of Web History, a new feature for Google Account users that makes it easy to view and search across the pages you’ve visited. If you remember seeing something online, you’ll be able to find it faster and from any computer with Web History. Web History lets you look back in time, revisit the sites you’ve browsed, and search over the full text of pages you’ve seen. It’s your slice of the web, at your fingertips.
So sit back, relax, and wait for Skynet (oops, Google) to make all our lives easier.
