This morning TJ passed on this excellent video produced by Michael Wesch, Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology at K-State University. He teaches a Digital Ethnography class there, and has a few additional videos exploring this very interesting topic.
This video is called ‘The Machine is Us/ing Us‘.
And here’s an excellent response from CoryTheRaven on the ideas and message that Professor Wesch examines in his class.
I wish this class would have been offered at ISU.
UPDATE: John Battelle got a chance to interview Michael Wesch. It’s an excellent read if his video intrigued you. Check it.

1[...] Get a New Browser posted a link to some very cool work today. Check out the page for KSU’s Digital Ethnography class and watch some of the videos. The one titled The Machine is Us/ing Us is an inspiring look at the meaning of Web 2.0. A meaning we may have forgotten in the rush to monetize new technologies. A lot of cynicism has built up around the new face of the web and I found these videos, and some of the responses, to be a refreshing discourse on the new state of human communication. It makes me want to stop marketing and start improving the world, which makes me stop and wonder why I’m not improving the world through my marketing. Food for thought, and possibly a restless night. inspiration» marketing» video» web2.0» Share this article:These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages.
