If you missed Part III of Frontline’s News War you should immediately drop what you are doing, head over to PBS, and watch it online. This part of this excellent series from this excellent news program takes on ‘What’s Happening to the News‘.

Changing times, new audiences, pressures for profits, and the Internet revolution are upending mainstream media’s old values and business models. Can anyone predict the future for news and in-depth reporting?

There are 50+ interviews with traditional media moguls and new media evangelists the likes of Jeff Jarvis, among many more. Other people from the new media world you may recognize:

Markos MoultsasThe Daily Kos

Craig NewmarkCraigslist

Josh WolfThe Revolution Will Be Televised

Rob Curley – VP Washington Post Newsweek Interactive

John HinderakerPower Line

Jeff JarvisBuzz Machine

Scott Johnson – Power Line

Larry Kramer – Former Head of CBS Digital Media

Josh MarshallTalking Points Memo

Scott MooreHead of Yahoo! News

Jay RosenPressThink

Eric Schmidt – CEO of Google

Amanda Congdon – Former Rocketboom ‘Anchor’

This is a Must Watch for anyone in the new media industry — which means any blogger reading this is required to watch. There will be homework and a quiz. There is a LOT more content on the web too that was not included in the program. You can watch that for extra credit.

Watch it here – I’d start with Part III – What’s happening to the News? Or, you can buy the DVD.
