This is an excellent article concerning the future of web standards – something we advocate here at GANB, hence the name of our website.
I and many many many web developers loathe Internet Explorer and the inevitable hair pulling that is endured while trying to create an aesthetically and standards uniform site across platforms.
Even though this is the case we still have to deal with IE because, well, 90% of your potential users will be using it.
Yea, it sucks. Don’t you just want to tell them to Get A New Browser? (pun intended)
So what do we do? Molly brings up an interesting point saying — why not just develop for IE and let Microsoft spear head standards? This doesn’t need answered as it is clear that nobody wants this. That’s why there’s a battle going on between standards gurus and groups who have recruited internal Microsoft developers and natural business process in place.
Molly is the head of WaSP and is currently doing her best to make IE7 as compliant as possible. Let’s just hope that 70% of the 90% of people who use IE have not turned off their automatic updates.
Vitamin Features ยป Will the Standards Battle Ever be Won?
The standards battle is still in full swing. Now that Microsoft is starting to talk standards, is there light at the end of the tunnel, or will the battle go on?
