How come Michael Arrington gets the scoop on this news? Everyone knows he’s a Bloglines user. I am the Searchfox RSS advocate. Anyway, this is some interesting news. I am very interested in knowing if Yahoo will implement Searchfox’s technology or if they just want the staff (almost all of whom have their doctorates).

To date, Yahoo has acquired the three of the four web services I use the most (Flickr, Del.icio.us, Searchfox) … GMail being the fourth. I think Yahoo has made its motives clear and are definitely going after the ‘Web 2.0′ market. Soon I will have to decide whether to switch from Google to Yahoo as my ‘portal’ of choice. If only Yahoo’s interface wasn’t so damn ugly.

Yahoo Acquires SearchFox Assets: “Reliable sources are reporting that SearchFox, which announced that it will be shutting down as of January 25, 2006, has sold its assets to Yahoo. At least some of the employees have moved over to Yahoo as well.” Michael Arrington, Techcrunch

On a side note, I have been enjoying Google Reader with the recent absense of Searchfox RSS. It took some time to get used to but I am really starting to like it.
