skype 2.0 out now

by Andy Brudtkuhl on January 12, 2006

I got an email from Skype this morning about the release of Skype 2.0, now with video calling. I have been anticipating this release of Skype. I did not download the last version because I was told all they added was new rings…who needs new rings?

Anyway, the possibility of video calling is very cool. I just wonder how much bandwidth this is going to consume.

Other new features include the ability to send files (I think this is new). You can also sort your contacts into groups. They also have some cool add-ons that I was unaware they had, like the email and browser toolbars which you can use to manage your calls.

They also have some cool new skype phones and accessories. There was a Netgear WiFi phone that comes pre-loaded with Skype shown at CES. It requires no pc.
