digg comments

by Andy Brudtkuhl on January 30, 2006

I’ve mentioned a couple of times (1, 2) how I am discontinuing my usage of digg. Aside from the fact 70% of the content is worthless to me I am not a fan of the community that powers it. Chris Pirillo has recently brought up a good point: Who has the worst commenters, Digg or Slashdot? Well I have not used slashdot for a long time because of its hideous design and content organization so I am not qualified to comment on that.

But, I sure can comment on the lameness of Digg commenters. I have been flamed several times on there. Sometimes it’s because Digg lets me post duplicate articles and other times it is because people disagree with what’s in the article. So, for that reason I quit reading Digg comments. And then the lack of consistent content rankings was all I could take.

I listen to their podcast. It’s entertaining. But I don’t worry much about the site. I’d tend to agree with you.
