I’ve been wondering why I have not seen this implemented yet, so I built it. My theory was that if you are producing a content site, than make the content the centerpoint of the website. This is an obvious choice but what isn’t is providing secondary content on demand.
For instance, you may go to my website to check out this code that I post. If you make it there via a search on google, than you may or may not care about my ‘secondary’ content. You don’t care that my archives are listed. You don’t care about my contact information or who I am linking to. But, if you are interested it’s on demand. Just click on a sidetab and the information you have requested is shown. Want it to go away? Click again.
Imagine going to websites like espn, wired, or cnet and having the secondary content to be selective, and on demand.
I think this enhances the user experience.. It attempts to solve simplicity issues by providing core information to the user in an uncluttered fashion. It’s also more accessible now. Just click to show, and click to hide. Content on demand.
